ChillSlim Now Available for Localized Fat Reduction
The ChillSlim cellulite and fat-reducing device utilizes hot and cold to create a significant temperature change in the skin and fatty tissue. This large temperature change (from -18C to +41C) is called “thermal shock,” and it has been proven to degrade and destroy fat and cellulite in fatty tissue. ChillSlim utilizes precise protocols alternating hot with cold at different temperatures and time intervals to achieve these incredible results.
Fat and cellulite reduction is achieved by applying heat and cold to the targeted area sequentially.
How it Works: Fat Reduction
The initial heating phase: Here is how first priming the target area with heat enhances fat reduction. Please note: This initial heating phase is similar to the Sculpsure concept.
- Vasodilation:The areas of the body with the most fat tend to have poor blood supply—fat is poorly vascularized. Therefore, heating the areas of fat prior to the cooling phase will cause vasodilation in blood and lymph vessels leading to increased blood and lymphatic flow in the area. This enhanced oxygenation and detoxification through the circulatory and lymphatic system is very important to the fat removal process: broken-down fat cells will be transported out of the targeted area via the circulatory and lymphatic systems for final excretion through the kidneys (urinary tract). The pre-heating phase is why ChillSlim generates such incredible fat reduction for our clients—and results can sometimes be seen immediately!!
- Adipocyte injury: Adipocytes are fat cells, and injury to these cells occurs when they are exposed to extreme temperatures (hot or cold). The initial heating phase during ChillSlim heats the underlying fat layer in the targeted area to between 39 and 42 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, the skin is not adversely affected; luckily, fat cells are much more sensitive to extreme temperature than skin cells. At this temperature, micro trauma occurs to the fat cell wall leading to cell apoptosis (cell death). The fat cell’s lipid content is expelled and eventually detoxified through the circulatory and lymphatic systems. This is how the volume of fat in the treated area is reduced. Please note: the ChillSlim applicator interfaces directly with the client’s skin, allowing for deep penetration of the hot and cold temperature to reach the subcutaneous fat layer.
The Cooling Phase: Longer than the heating phase in order to take advantage of cryolipolysis. Here is how the cooling phase works:
Cryolipolysis: is defined as the breakdown of fat cells due to cold exposure. As mentioned above, fat cells are more temperature sensitive than skin cells. The cold temperature created by ChillSlim does not hurt the skin—only the underlying fat! Fat cells experience apoptosis (cell death) at roughly 3 to 7 degrees Celsius. In order to achieve this temperature in the fat, the skin should be cooled to approximately 1 to 4C (the underlying fat layer will be slightly warmer than the skin because it is closer to the body’s core). This cold temperature applied with the ChillSlim handpiece penetrates to the subcutaneous fat. The lipids in the fat cells crystallize and cause the cell wall to break apart. The lipid content is liberated from the cell and detoxified from the area through the circulatory and lymphatic system.
The ChillSlim device reduces fat deposits through cryolipolysis. Fat cells “freeze” at a higher temperature than skin cells, so the ChillSlim device can freeze fat without burning the skin!
The Final Heating Phase:
- Detoxification: Once cryolipolysis has broken apart fat cells and caused the release of their lipid content, heat is applied to the area. Heat causes vasodilation leading to increased blood and lymphatic flow in and out of the area. These systems transport the lipids out of the treatment area.
- Heat Induced Lipolysis: Heat application is damaging to fat cells; this final stage of heating can also cause additional lipolysis and fat reduction.
All 3 phases of the Fat Reduction treatment cause fat cell apoptosis and detoxification of lipids from the treatment area through the circulatory and lymphatic systems. The lipid release from both the cold and heat lipolysis will continue for several weeks to months after the treatment—and detoxification will also continue to occur. Clients may see some immediate fat reduction and will continue to reduce fat in the targeted areas for several weeks to months after their final treatment.
Adicell Thermographic Imaging:
We use this system to diagnose the client’s type and density of cellulite and fat. There are 3 types of cellulite that Adicell can identify:
Edemateous Cellulite: The least worrisome and easiest to alleviate. This type is caused by water retention due to poor blood and lymphatic circulation.
Adipose Cellulite: This type of cellulite is often associated with excess weight. It is necessary to stimulate natural fat release.
Fibrous or Sclerotic Cellulite: This is the most serious form of cellulite because it has existed for a long time and has become impacted and sclerotic. This type of cellulite takes the most treatments to get rid of. The fat tissue must be softened before the impacted fat cells can be eliminated.
If the Adicell imaging indicates the absence of cellulite, only Fat Reduction is indicated. 10 percent of women and 90 percent of men do not have cellulite.
A Note on invisible cellulite:
ChillRx utilizes the Adicell thermographic imaging system to identify client cellulite and fat reserves. Some clients have “invisible” cellulite that is not currently visible on the skin’s surface but will show up on the Adicell. Adicell allows us to identify invisible cellulite and offer treatment options to prevent it from manifesting on the client. Invisible cellulite is the early phase of cellulite when the degradation of collagen and elastin and compromised blood and lymph flow has only begun. Many clients with invisible cellulite are young and are not fat—but may have a genetic predisposition to cellulite (ask about their mother’s cellulite status).
Clients with invisible cellulite should utilize ChillSlim to prevent its manifestation. Age and external stressors cause collagen and elastin to break down, and blood and lymph circulation naturally decline with age. If the client gains fat, the cellulite will become visible. ChillSlim is a great preventative treatment that future-proofs clients from cellulite.
Elevate Your Fat Reduction!!
The Adicell thermographic imaging system allows ChillSlim providers to quantify client fat and cellulite loss. Clients are photographed with their Adicell imaging plates at the beginning of each treatment. Their fat and cellulite reduction can be visually quantified, and the data is stored in the client record.
Adicell should accurately identify the type of cellulite a client has, even if it’s currently invisible. Invisible cellulite should be treated with the appropriate protocol: edemateous, adipose, or sclerotic.
